Come with me on this 2-day trekking in Alpujarras and discover this Spanish hiker's paradise!
This snowy mountain range is located in the region of Andalusia, in the province of Granada. Alpujarras is an ideal place for exploring nature's beauty and enjoying its breathtaking landscapes.
My proposal is to cross the Sierra Nevada by starting on the south slope of Hoya del Portillo. From there, we will start our trekking from Alpujarras and direct ourselves to the highest peaks in the region.
During these two days, we will be ascending the two highest peaks of Sierra Nevada, Mount Mulhacén (3482 meters) and Mount Veleta (3396 meters).
And after spending one night at the Poqueira mountain hut, located at 2500 meters, our two-day adventure will finish with a comfortable descent all the way down from Mount Veleta to Hoya de la Mora.
Our trek will end on the northern slope of Hoya de la Mora, the closest spot to the capital of Andalusia, Granada.
Some mountaineering experience will be necessary as well as having a good physical condition. Remember that on our second day we will be trekking for almost 10 hours.
If you want to join me on this guided two-day trekking, request to book this trip!
If you wish to do another trekking in Sierra Nevada, you can also join me on this Mulhacen (3482 meters) 2 day guided ascent.
Transport from our meeting point in Granada to Hoya del Portillo. From here we will start our trekking all the way to Refuge Poqueira, where we will spend the night.
On our second day, we will be able to hike the two highest peaks of Sierra Nevada, Mount Mulhacen () and Mount Veleta ().
Afterwards, we will descend all the way to Hoya de la Mora where a vehicle will pick us up and take us back to Granada.
We will end our adventure eating some delicious tapas granadinas!

Fantastic winter ascent of Mulhacen together with guide Mariano Frutos in mid-January. Very warm and sunny day and extremely icy on the top but fantastic views all the way to the Moroccan Rif mountains. Few people on the mountain and a lot of Iberian mountain goats. Mariano was excellent and Pablo at Explore-Share made the logistics easy and straightforward as always.
