I would like to offer you an exciting winter adventure in El Bolsón, in the north of Patagonia. Are you up for it? Then join me for a 2-day ski touring adventure in Cerro Piltriquitrón!
El Bolsón is a small town north of San Carlos de Bariloche in Patagonia. The Piltriquitrón (Mapuche for “Hanging from the clouds”) is one of its most important peaks. Due to its location and its varied terrain, during the winter it turns into a perfect spot for ski touring adventures.
This 2-day trip starts in Bariloche, one of the most beautiful alpine cities of South America. After driving to El Bolson we will climb to the Piltriquitron Hut and ski on its surrounding powder snow. The second day we can reach the top of Cerro Huemul for another ski touring day!
The Piltriquitron hut, which will be our accommodation, offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and valleys of the Andes. Furthermore, it serves delicious dishes!
Please note that this ski touring tour requires at least an intermediate skiing level and a good fitness level. Check the itinerary below for more information.
So, if you want to explore the mountains of El Bolson, please get in touch with me. Let me guide you on this awesome 2-day ski touring trip around Cerro Piltriquitron!
Do you prefer a longer expedition? Then take a look at my North Patagonia 5-day guided ski program.
Meeting in Bariloche. Briefing and equipment check.
We move from Bariloche to El Bolsón (120km by car). Hike to Piltriquitrón Hut (20 to 40 minutes carrying skis). Once there, we leave our extra equipment and ski on Cerro Piltriquitrón. Dinner and overnight in the hut.
After breakfast we will try to climb Cerro Huemul and enjoy its powder snow. At the end of the day we return to Bariloche.

Mountain Guide
IFMGA/UIAGM guide from Argentina.
I’m trekking guide since 2009, and became fully IFMGA certified in 2014.
I’ve climbed in many destinations in the Andes in Argentina, and also in Perú, Brasil, France, Spain, Italy and Austria.
I work together with two other colleagues and friends, Indio and Tomás, who are also IFMGA. So if I’m not available to guide you, one of them can do it.
The three of us live in El Chalten, where we practice our profession and develop our passion for climbing and skiing. And we want to share it by opening the doors to all those who want to live their Patagonian experience in a safe and unforgettable way.
We are also committed to mountain training. Therefore, we can give you the basic tools to move in the mountain safely and smoothly. That's why we offer courses for all levels depending on the terrain you want to train. We give lessons of rock climbing, ice climbing, glacier transit and mountain skiing.

Juan was so friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic during our climb. He took us on appropriate warm-ups to assess our skill level and find exciting routes. Also he gave us tips throughout to not only climb, more efficiently, but to be safe. He was extremely knowledgable and attentive, and always felt safe and comfortable.
Indio is awesome! Great teacher. Great fun to be around. Would climb with him again. Highly recommend him no matter what your climbing level is.
Juan is a knowledgable, personable and strong guide. Cerro Solo is a great short peak for those wishing to hone their skills. Campsite is beautiful
