The Catskills are an amazing destination for ice climbing. This wonderful place is located very close to New York City, only 161 kilometers north. It has over 25 distinct crags, that offer more than 300 climbs. Hence, it is the perfect location for this 2- day advanced course on ice climbing.

The ice climbing activities in the Catskills ocurr mainly in the Catskill Park. The Catskill Park has over 2,8000  km2 of land, encompassed in the counties of Delaware, Ulster, Sullivan and Greene. Also, the Catskill Park is the home of the Catskill Forest Preserve, a majestic land of almost 1,173  protected km2.

Aside from their exceptional beauty, the Catskills are famous for their ice climbing spots. That is why we have chosen them as our classroom setting for this 2-day advanced program.

The course is designed as a introduction to the skills necessary to lead ice routes. We will teach you all about ice screw placements and anchors, as well as belaying. You’ll learn everything you need to know about runners, stance, and how to find the best routes.  Finally we’ll show you the best and safest descending techniques.

We implement this course over a period of 2 days, mainly on a weekend day and a week day. This is so you get the chance to practice when the routes are less crowded. And, since your safety is one of our main goals, all the techniques and skills we’ll teach you, will be under the most strict safety regulations. We’ll supervise everything and make sure you get plenty of time to practice and build your confidence.
