Description

Follow me on this mountaineering adventure to explore Pichu Pichu (5,664 m). Get ready, as Pichu Pichu is a very special mountain, that was very important for the Inca civilization. It still holds great importance amongst the local inhabitants, and for the peruvian culture.

During the Inca civilization, this magnificent peak was revered, and from its summit different human sacrifices were performed. On 1965, the skull of a girl, alongside with different gold, silver and ceramic items were found in the mountain. And some years later, in 1986, an archaeological expedition, accompanied by some of our guides and assistants, found more objects of great importances, with the mommy of a child.

On our first day, we’ll depart towards the Laguna Salinas lagoon (4,300m), that is brimming with different migrating birds certain months of the year. So we might encounter flamingos, ducks, andean seagulls. We could also see llamas and alpacas. Or we may even run into a wild pack of vicunas or guanacos. Then we’ll drive close to base camp, where we’ll take a short walk to reach it.

Day two will be when we reach the summit of Coronado Cumbre (5,664 m), a stunning viewpoint of all the Volcanic Mountain Range. From there, we’ll also be able to appreciate the ancient incan platform in which the sacrifices were conducted. After taking in the beautiful sceneries, we’ll return to our vehicle and head back to Arequipa. And, on the way there, we’ll visit the town of Chinguata to learn more about the local culture.

This is an easy trip, if you want to explore the mountains in Peru. You only require good previous acclimatization and being up for the trek. So just send me a request and let me guide you across this wonderful place.

I also guide this 2-day Colca Canyon Trek in Arequipa, Peru that you can check out.
