The Grossglockner (3,790m) is the highest mountain in Austria and a popular destination for mountaineering expeditions. This tour is your chance to reach its summit under expert guidance. Join me!
Standing on the border between the states of Carinthia and Tyrol, above the Adriatic Sea, the Grossglockner is part of the larger Glockner Group. The Pasterze, Austria’s biggest glacier, lies on its eastern slope.
On this 2-day ascent, we will climb glaciers and granite. Therefore, you will need to be able to handle an ice axe and crampons properly. Furthermore, the altitude requires a good fitness level.
After meeting, we will drive to the Luckner Hut, where our alpine adventure begins. After an 800 m ascent, we will reach the Stüdl Hut, where we will spend the night surrounded by fabulous landscapes. Then, the second day we will climb 1000m including a thrilling ridge, to get to the summit of Grossglockner.
The top of this pyramid-shaped mountain is heavily glaciated and offers amazing views of the Alps. You will surely feel rewarded! So, if you are up this gorgeous 2-day mountaineering trip in the Austrian Alps, please contact me. Let’s get to the top of the huge Grossglockner together!
I also offer rock climbing adventures around Italy. If you are interested, take a look at my half-day trip in Cadini di Misurina.
