Andes

2 Days

Description

If you belong to the group of mountains fanatics and want to explore something new, come with me to Antisana! We will spend two days in the insides of the Andes in the discovery of this amazing volcanic peak.

Antisana, with its 5758 meters, occupies the 4th place in terms of height of all Ecuador’s mountains. However, it can be one of the less visited by climbers.

This is maybe due to the fact that there are a lot of glaciers which are very active. And also, because of the many crevasses.

For these reasons, climbing the Antisana mountain can be more demanding and challenging. In fact, it is probably the most difficult climb Ecuador has to offer.

But, do not get deterred by these complications. As soon as we reach the extremely high mountain peak, the view will amaze you.

From that height you will catch sight of the splendid Andean landscapes. And especially, the Ecuador’s area which is full of volcanoes.

Due to the mountain’s remoteness, we need to start our climbing trip at the schedule time.

Our accommodation will be Antisana’s base camp “La Virgen” at 4700 meters.

I welcome all climbing passionate to join me. Nonetheless, remember that because of the ice terrain the trip can result quite challenging.

So, you need to have some previous mountaineering experience. And, most importantly, to be ready to ascend for 7 hours approximately until we reach the wonderful peak.

I will be your guide and you will be divided into groups of 2. This way, the expedition can result more personalized and safe.

Therefore, adventure yourself to explore the fantastic and very high Antisana mountain in the Andes. I assure you the reward will be absolutely worth the climbing effort. I’ll be waiting for your contact. It will be a pleasure to accompany to the top of Ecuador’s 4th highest peak.

Itinerary

Day 1: Meeting-Drive to "La Virgen" base camp

We will get by car to the Antisana’s base camp called “La Virgen” at 4700. Together, we will set up our tents, have dinner and go to sleep since we will need to be well rested.

Day 2: Reaching the mountain's summit and descent

Depending on the climate and the amount of people taking part of the expedition, we will commence our ascent to Antisana at about 1 a.m. Due to the fact that the trip is quite challenging because of the glacier’s conditions, it will take us approximately 7 hours to reach the top. The descent, however, will take 3 to 4 hours. We will arrive at the Antisana National Park’s exit and say goodbye.
