The trek will begin and end at Lukla, an airstrip that is known as the ‘Gateway to Everest‘. From there, we’ll trek towards the Sherpa Villages of Namche and Khumjung and see the unique culture and tradition of the natives of the Everest region.

The trail further leads to several Buddhist monasteries including the famous Tengboche Monastery. The path offers stunning views of many high Himalayan peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Mount Nuptse, Amadablam, Pokalde and many more.

Along with the panoramic vistas, you’ll also get to explore the rich plant and animal life of the Himalayan region. And you if are lucky, you might as well spot snow leopard or panda on the way.

Scaling on moraine and ice, you’ll finally get to the Everest Base Camp and it will be a feeling like no other! The top offers breathtaking views of the neighboring peaks and evokes a feeling of utter joy and accomplishment.

After taking your time, you’ll begin your descent and return all the way to Namcha and then to Lukla, ending this amazing journey.

Day 1: Fly to Lukla (2,860 m/9,383 ft) around 30 minutes flight and trek to Phakding, 8 km, 3 - 4 hours trek (2,610 m/8563 ft)

Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar Village, around 11 km, 5 - 6 hours trek (3,440 m/11,284 ft)

Day 3: Acclimatization Day - Namche Bazaar Village (3,440 m/11,284 ft)

Day 4: Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche, 10 km, around 5-6 hours (3,860 m/12,660 ft)

Day 5: Tengboche to Dingboche, 9 km, around 5 - 6 hours (4,410 m/14,470 ft)

Day 6: Dingboche: Acclimatization (4,410 m/14,470 ft)

Day 7: Dingboche to Lobuche, 10 Km, 4-5 hours trek (4940 m/16,210 ft)

Day 8: Lobuche to Gorak Shep, 10 Km, 6-7 hour trek (5,164 m/16,942 ft and trek to Kalapatthar (5,600 m/18,373 ft) around 3 hour

Day 9: Gorak Shep to Everest base camp, 13 km, 6-7 hours (5364 m/17,594 ft) to Pherice, 16km, 7-8 hours (4,371 m (14,340 ft)

Day 10: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar Village, 15 km, 6 - 7 hours (3,440 m/11,290 ft)

What is the average distance and altitude gain that we will hike each day?

The distance between Lukla and Kalapatthar, or Everest Base Camp, is 130 kilometers. You'll need 4 to 8 hours per day to make this trip. It may be challenging for inexperienced hikers and beginners to finish the trek's steeply inclining terrain in a single day. The Everest Base Camp Trek can be successfully completed by anyone who is in good physical and mental condition. However, it helps to have previous hiking or trekking experience. From Lukla, at 9,318 feet (2,840 meters), to Kalapatthar, at 5,600 feet (18,373 feet), and Everest Base Camp, at 17,598 feet (5,364 meters), the trail ascends over six days. You may calculate your daily gain as being 460 meters (1506 ft).

What experience do I need to have? How fit do I need to be? Is this program suitable for children or older people?

A moderate level hike is the Everest Base Camp hike. It is rated as having a moderate degree of difficulty. Prior knowledge is now useful but not necessary. Anyone who is in excellent physical condition, has a positive outlook, and is very determined can complete the Everest Base Camp Trek. Compared to the other Everest region hike, it is simpler.

How can I get to the trailhead/meeting point?

To reach the trailhead or meeting point for the Everest Base Camp trek, the most common approach is to take a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu Airport and continue on foot from there. However, if you have ample time and prefer a more challenging adventure, it is also feasible to trek the entire way. Nevertheless, the majority of Everest Base Camp Trek itineraries officially commence at Lukla airport.

How will accommodation and meals be handled during the trek?

The Everest Base Camp Trek offers various accommodation options, including tea houses, luxury hotels, and lodges. Some accommodations have hot showers and amenities, while others have additional facilities like wifi and electronic charging.

Meal options include Chinese, Indian, Continental, and Nepalese cuisine. Teahouses also serve refreshments, and bakeries are scattered throughout the trek. As you progress, fresh food and vegetables become scarce, and costs increase due to remoteness in the Everest Region.

Are there any other special requirements such as permits/insurance/vaccines that I need to consider before the tour?

Yes, there are a few special requirements that you need to consider. First and foremost, it is essential to have travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation. Additionally, you will need to obtain the Sagarmatha National Park permit, Trekker's Information Management System (TIMS) card and the Local government permit to enter the Everest region. These permits and necessary documentation are typically arranged by your trekking agency prior to your trek. However, it is crucial to ensure you have travel insurance in place to address any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies during your journey.

What is the best time of the year for this hike?

It is usually possible to trek the Everest region (autumn, spring, summer, and winter) Season over the year but you need greater preparation for summer and winter and may not get clear views due to fog. The best times to do Everest Base Camp Trek are autumn (September-November) and spring (May-March) like most other treks in Nepal. During these seasons, the weather is clear and day temperatures are warm. However, the Khumbu region is known as a particularly cold area.
