1-day Volcano Ski Tour in Iceland

This fantastic day out provides the experience of a lifetime ski touring on a choice of one of Iceland’s most beautiful Volcanoes. Choose between Snæfellsjökull  or Eyjafjallajökull, you are truly spoilt for choice!

Located on the western coast, Snæfellsjökull is a 700,000 year old glacier capped volcano that provides wonderful touring conditions and breathtaking panoramic scenery on the ski down. You will cover about 5km hiking and gain roughly 1200m in altitude over 3 hours. This ancient volcano peaks at 1446m providing stunning views.

Eyjafjallajökull is situated on the south coast and covers a volcano elevated at 1666m. Famously erupting in 2010, this volcano gives expansive views over the black sand beaches and Eyjafjallajökull’s crater. We’ll hike about 4 hours, covering 8km and gaining 1600m in altitude to reach the summit where we’ll enjoy spectacular views before skiing back down.

We can decide which volcano to visit depending on the weather conditions and your preference. On the ski down either volcano you can expect varied conditions from icy to hard packed to powder. On both trips you will be given a safety induction regarding avalanche and crevasse rescue and we’ll make sure you’re comfortable with everything you need to do.
