Description

Are you coming to visit Bulgaria and you want to find a fun activity to do close to Sofia? Then this 1-day snowshoeing to the top of Vitosha mountain is what you’re looking for!

Vitosha mountain is a mountain massif that rises right on the south of Sofia. It’s inside the Vitosha Nature Park which is known as The Biggest Park of Sofia. It’s an easy mountain to access and has a beautiful scenery to enjoy.

There are many activities to do in this massif such as skiing and alpinism, but on this occasion I offer you a different way to get to its summit. Snowshoeing is a great way to explore the mountain in a relaxed and contemplative way.

My plan is to take you to the top of Vitosha – Cherni Vrah (2290 m) in one day. You don’t need any previous experience and you’ll enjoy a pleasant hike among the peace of the mountain, away from the city noise!

I’ll pick you up from your hotel in Sofia and drive to Aleko hut, where we will leave the car and start walking. From here we’ll hike for around 2 hours through an easy slope to reach the top, where we’ll take a break to warm up and rest while you admire the beautiful view. Then we’ll walk down and drive back to the city.

So this snowshoeing adventure is a perfect getaway from the city, to enjoy nature and snow from a different perspective. Send me a request to make it happen!

My first touch to the mountain had been at age of 3 with my father. Since then I have been spending valuable time among the mountains - at first in Bulgaria and later across the Alps every summer. At age of 24 I visited rock climbing course and two years later I graduated climbing instructor course. In 2010 I finished my the training for mountain leader and decided to devote my life to sharing this passion called mountain experience.

If you intend to visit Bulgaria to climb trad routes you will find several of them set by myself and my climbing buddies.
