1-day rock climbing for beginners in Independence Pass, near Aspen

Located just outside of Aspen, Independence Pass is one of the most scenic rock climbing spots in all of Colorado.

Boasting short approaches and high-quality granite, there are plenty of spots on which to learn this fun and exciting outdoor sport.

Over the course of the day, we will learn some basic rock skills, knots, belaying and rappelling, among other necessary skills. By the end of the day, you should be able to climb simple routes and enjoy the stunning views from the top!

Independence Pass offers nearly every type of climbing imaginable, with both single and multi-pitch surfaces as well as a rich mix of trad, alpine and sport climbing. There’s also plenty of bouldering for us to do as a warm up or cool down.
