We invite you to join us in the Alps to provide you with the mountaineering training and techniques you need to achieve your goal safely, whether you are looking to climb 4000-meter peaks in Europe or a high mountain in the Himalayas.
Climbing a peak in the Himalayas is the ultimate goal for every mountaineer, and preparation is key for a succesful expedition. Every season, we guide our clients to the highest mountains in the world: Everest, Manaslu, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, and many other majestic peaks.
For 1 or several days, we will go over the physical preparation, equipment selection and necessary instructions to make your dream come true. We are a team with more than 35 years of experience on high mountain expeditions, always with the best guides and equipment. We also regularly guide all of the 4000-meter peaks of France, Switzerland and Italy.
This mountaineering training course will be designed according to your experience, level, goals and aspirations. This way we make sure you acquire the relevant techniques to achieve your objective. Your training will suit your previous learning and fitness level as well.
We will also help you decide what is best for you, according to your expectations. Some clients prefer to improve or learn mountaineering skills, while others want to learn glacier travel safety and techniques.
Every season we guide successful expeditions in the Himalayas. We provide our clients with the best preparation to climb any 4000, 6000 or 8000-meter peak. You will learn everything you need to become a competent team member, from the basics to advanced mountaineering skills.
Our training will go over the following mountaineering skills and techniques, putting them into practice:
Proper equipment selection and preparation for mountaineering and glacier travel
Common mistakes and avoidance of accidents in mountaineering
Basic climbing skills necessary for mountaineering on technical and non-technical terrain
Glacier travel and team rope management, i.e. communication, accident avoidance, team member responsibilities
Choices and best methods of tying-in, rope team movement and route selection for glacier travel and climbing
Anchor selection, construction and evaluation
Types of gear and appropriate use of pickets, flukes, bollards, ‘deadmen’, ice screws, improvised anchor gear and techniques
Belaying methods: anchor choices, load and mechanical advantage system determination and testing
If we have enough time, we will also cover rescue systems:
Awareness of and ability to perform various rescue techniques, including self-rescue and partner-rescue
Situation management and approach to rescue situations
Escaping from a loaded rope and/or belay
Friction knot application, prussiking and ascending devices
Advanced crevasse rescue skills, i.e. 3:1, 5:1, 7:1 mechanical advantage systems
