Description

If you’re coming to Ushuaia, in the Argentinean Patagonia, Laguna Turquesa is a must!

Situated near the city of Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost province of Argentina, this hike leads to the stunning Laguna Turquesa. In the middle of the mountains, this lake is located in a wonderful natural environment and offers an amazing view. I invite you to discover it on this 1-day program.

First, we’ll depart from Ushuaia at 8.30 am and go to the starting point of our hike. From there, we’ll go across a beautiful Andean forest and, after a strenuous walk, we’ll reach Laguna Turquesa. Once there, we’ll enjoy rock climbing and observe the incredible landscape surrounding us. We’ll have the chance to see Laguna Esmeralda from a special point of view. Afterwards, we’ll have lunch and head back to the city. We’ll be back at around 2 pm.

Please, take into account that, although the hike is not too challenging, it’s important to have a good level of fitness. For the climb, it’s not mandatory to have prior experience. During the hike, we’ll cover a distance of 4 kilometers and face an elevation gain of around 400 meters.

Gabriel was a terrific guide for Cinco Hermanos, which provides amazing views of Ushuaia and the surrounding mountain ridges and valleys. After a pleasant trail through the forest, you cross the main creek and ascend the benches below the peaks. After that we enjoyed terrific alpine climbing with steep snow, sometimes greater than 50 degrees. Route finding was a bit challenging, and the selection of the right gulley can greatly determine which hermano you are climbing. We ultimately summitted Hermano Cinco. Ghanks to Gabriel for sharing so much information about the mountains and culture of the region.

Kevin

I came here at the end of Winter, so it was still snowing and the lake was unfortunately frozen with snow on top. However, the hike had amazing views with a very knowledgeable Guide. Pick up was on time and all information was given to me as needed. Highly recommend.
