This 1-day hike to Gervasutti Bivouac in Val Ferret will take you up to one of the most incredible spots in Europe.
The Gervasutti Bivouac (2835 m) is located just above the Freboudze glacier on a southeast side of the Mont Blanc Massif, in the Italian Val Ferret, close to the border with Switzerland,
This bivouac was first built in 1948 and, after some damage, completely reformed in 1961. Then, 50 years later, the old structure was replaced by a new and totally innovative structure, which ranks among Europe’s most prestigious mountain architectures.
The new hut is a modular chassis that stand on a rocky outcrop with a spectacular view of the surroundings.
But to reach this spectacular place is not an easy task that takes place mostly without any path or visible tracks. That’s why one of our guides can help you guiding you to complete a safe and fun adventure.
We’ll meet early in the morning, at 6 am, and drive up to Lavachey village. From here we’ll start the hike up through a harsh environment without many signals, but that I know very well. The total altitude gain will be of 1200 m to this amazing mountain hut and we’ll have a short break to eat and take pictures before heading back down.

We did a 1 day Ferrata with Marica. We've both never climbed a Ferrata before but we are both good hikers. We enjoyed our trip very much and you don't need to be a climber. Marica took good care of us and she is very informative with the local geography and history. We felt very safe with her. If you are traveling near the Dolomite and want to try something a bit out of your comfort zone, I highly recommend doing a ferrata especially with Marica. We did both ferrata ra gusela nuvolau and ferrata-averau. It took us about 6 hours.
