Near Madrid, Spain lies the dazzling El Tiemblo in the province of Ávila, Castilla y León which gets colored in bright reds, oranges and browns during the fall. Join me to discover all these wonderful colors on this one-day hike.
For this adventure, we’ll meet at Nuevos Ministerios early in the morning and ride through the Pantanos Road up to the town of El Tiemblo. There, we’ll take a bus to the Regato parking lot and begin our hike. We’ll explore the Yedra Gorge and ascend towards the Cruz del Tornero for a breathtaking views of the autumn tainted sea of chestnuts. Along the way, we’ll find the oldest chestnut tree in the area, known as the Grandfather Chestnut (Castaño El Abuelo), and hundreds of other enormous trees that give this place a fairytale-like atmosphere.
This is a 9-kilometer hike with no technical difficulties. Perfect for those looking for a relaxing day outdoors.
Sound tempting? Then send me a message and join me on this beautiful hike.

Pedro was so knowledgeable about the area, and graciously answered all our questions, even those unrelated to the hike. He was very kind in picking us up from Madrid for a small fee. He also took a bunch of photos of my husband and I during the trek, which I really appreciated since those are our only pictures together from our trip to Spain. I'd definitely recommend Pedro to anyone traveling to Madrid and interested in experiencing nature outside the city.
