Want to take your mountaineering skills to the next level and explore one of the most beautiful mountains in southern Spain? This is my proposal! Join me on this 1-day Cartujo North Face guided ascent in Sierra Nevada!
Our mountaineering expedition will take place in the Sierra Nevada National Park, located in the Spanish region of Andalusia. With 85,883 hectares of land, lush river valleys and pine forests, this UNESCO World Heritage Site has an incredible range of landscapes to discover.
As one of the most accesible mountains in Sierra Nevada, Pico Cartujo offers a great opportunity for intermediate climbers. At 3,152 meters above sea level, this summit is an excellent challenge for anyone who wants to try a slightly more technical ascent. During this 1-day guided program, we’ll alternate steps in rock with slopes of snow and depending on the route’s conditions, we may even practice some rappelling. Once at the top, we’ll enjoy fantastic panoramic views of this Spanish mountain range. With Pico del Caballo (3,011 m) to the west and Pico Elorrieta (3,193 m) to the east, our hardworking adventure will be well rewarded.
I recommend this trip to intermediate climbers in excellent physical shape. Moreover, all participants should bring their own personal equipment (ice axes, crampons, helmet and harness). Please ask if you are in doubt.
Interested in making Cartujo your next destination for a mountaineering adventure? Then don’t hesitate to contact me and send your request now!

Fantastic winter ascent of Mulhacen together with guide Mariano Frutos in mid-January. Very warm and sunny day and extremely icy on the top but fantastic views all the way to the Moroccan Rif mountains. Few people on the mountain and a lot of Iberian mountain goats. Mariano was excellent and Pablo at Explore-Share made the logistics easy and straightforward as always.
