Located in the Baxter State Park, Mount Katahdin is is prestigiously known by climbers of all levels. Its beautiful granite has been eroded away and carved by glaciers, giving the impression of alpine climbing, the only place in the East Coast. It is also popular during the winter months for ice climbing.

Besides, the views we'll experience are breathtaking: lakes, ponds, mountains, forests, greens and blues. Even though we'll be focusing on the climbing route, once we reach the summit, we'll be able to take it all in.

There are several routes to reach the summit. The most popular one is the one we'll be doing on this trip: Hanta Yo. It climbs the right side of the North Basin headwall, which is one of the largest rock faces in the east. This route has some technical difficulty, which is why it is recommended for climbers with some experience.
