What should I know about Rock Climbing India?
Sprawling over 3,287,263 square kilometers (1,269,219 square miles), India is the seventh largest country on earth. The majority of the rock climbing occurs in the northernmost regions of the country, where the Himalayas pass through India.
However, there are some excellent rock climbing spots farther south in the country. Sanjay Gandhi National Park, not far from Mumbai, boasts some great climbing opportunities for beginners. The park has some modest crags and cliffs that are great for working on techniques, movement on the rocks and proper use of equipment.
For more advanced climbers, the Miyar Valley, in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, abounds with plenty of great climbing opportunities. Boasting incredible scenery and rugged peaks reaching up to 6,300 meters (27,670 feet) in elevation, there are plenty of climbing options awaiting.
Some popular climbing spots are the two sides of Toro Peak (4,800 meters/15,750 feet). Scaling the Trident Ridge is another popular option. Both of these are perfectly suited for intermediate climbers looking for a challenge.
Why should I choose India for my Rock Climbing adventure?

Boasting snow-capped mountain peaks, deep river valleys, tropical rainforests and rolling plains, India boasts a plethora of stunning landscapes and scenery. Many of the most beautiful parts of the country are nearby the best rock climbing spots too. Gaining some altitude on a rock climbing adventure is the perfect way to experience them.
Discover the unknown
The mountainous north of India is vast and some parts remain largely unexplored. In the stunning Privatri Valley, new routes up unexplored mountains were still being discovered as late as 2011. Filled with numerous granite towers and prominent peaks, make your next climbing adventure an unforgettable one and discover something brand new.
Something for everyone
From rock climbing courses for beginners just outside of Mumbai to more challenging and technical ascents in the heart of the Himalayas, there are a multitude of rock climbing opportunities waiting to be discovered. Whether you prefer trad, sport or alpine climbing, you will find the perfect challenge waiting for you in this diverse and incredible place.
