The North Caucasus is one of Russia’s eight Federal Districts, located in the south of the country, on the border with Georgia. This area is also home to seven autonomous republics within the Russian Federation, and therefore has a wide variety of religions, etnias and languages. Surrounded by the Caucasus mountains, here you’ll find the highest peak in the range, and also in Russia and Europe: Mount Elbrus (5,642 m). Elbrus is one of the Seven Summits and a desired peak for climbers and mountaineers, who arrive to this remote region. Expeditions to Mount Elbrus usually take between 8 to 14 days. There are also other interesting mountain challenges in these mountains, so take a look at all our programs! Explore-Share.com only promotes mountain trips led by certified guides.
