Climbing Toubkal: Top Outdoor Adventures Awaiting You

Did you know that Toubkal is one of the few peaks in Morocco where you can find snow most of the year? That is probably the main reason why hundreds of climbers come here and try this mountain. Of course, the natural beauty of the High Atlas is another perfect excuse to live unforgettable outdoor adventures in the area.

Although there are many climbing options, the technical difficulty will depend on the duration of your trip. Climbing Toubkal can be more challenging if you stay a few days, because you will have less acclimatization time. However, it is important that all participants have a good fitness level.

Berber villages and High Atlas

The Berbers are an ancient ethnic group, living in various settlements near Toubkal that have managed to transmit their language and traditions to new generations. The High Atlas is one of the regions where this culture is best preserved, in the beautiful villages on its slopes.

The highest mountain

Toubkal is the highest mountain in the country and is easily accessible from Marrakech. This giant attracts many adventurers throughout the year. The Rif mountains, located near the Blue City (Chefchaouen), are also ideal for outdoor sports, like trekking, running and skiing.

Toubkal is snow-covered from December to June, what makes it a perfect place for skiing. In summer temperatures rise considerably, especially in the Imlil area, and a trekking or mountain climbing adventure can be hard. The intermediate seasons - early fall and late spring - are ideal for mountaineering in Toubkal.

From Marrakech to Imlil by car (the trip takes 1 hour). And from here starts a narrow mountain road that leads us to the starting point of the ascent to Toubkal.
