What should I know about Mountain Climbing Mongolia?
Situated in northeastern Asia, sandwiched in between Russia and China with a small border with Kazakhstan, Mongolia is not the most thought of mountain climbing destination, but for any avid mountaineer, it should not be missed.
Altai Tavan Bogd National Park sits in the far western corner of the country and is home to Mongolia’s highest mountains. Heading on a one or two week mountaineering expedition is a great way to see the area’s stunning scenery and make it up some of the country’s highest peaks.
Away from the three summits of Tavan Bogd, Mönkhkhairkhan Mountain (4,231 meters/13,881 feet) and Tsambagarav (4,193 meters/13,757 feet) are two of the other top mountaineering destinations. Also located in the same national park, both provide excellent intermediate challenges and stunning views from their summits.
