Hiking in Shenandoah National Park: Top Outdoor Adventures Awaiting You

A hike to the summit of Hawksbill Mountain (1,230 meters) is a great idea. This is a half-day hike and also takes you along part of the Appalachian Trail. You can also discover the Old Rag Mountain (1,000 meters) on a challenging hike. In the Central district you can discover great spots like Dark Hollow Falls and Whiteoak Canyon.

There are thousands of miles of trails here. This includes a 105-mile section of the famous Appalachian Trail. There are flat trails and trails that go up mountains. No matter your fitness level, you’ll find something here.

Even though you may sometimes feel deep in the wilderness in this national park, Washington D.C. is actually only 75 miles away. This makes it the perfect destination for a day trip. However, you can also camp there if you need more time.

**Beautiful nature **

From stunning waterfalls to the forests that change color with the seasons, and much more, the park is filled with awesome nature. It’s also home to great wildlife like many songbirds and black bears.

The summers are hot and humid and the winters cold and snowy. Expect lows of 26°F (-3 °C) in the winter and averages of around 86°F (30°C) in the summer. The weather can vary greatly depending on where you are in the park.
