What should I know about Hiking Uganda?
Situated in eastern Africa, sandwiched between the rainforest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the high plateau of Kenya, Uganda is a veritable paradise for all types of hiking adventures.
The Ruwenzori Range, in the west of the country, is the most popular hiking destination, with most opting to head to the summit of one or more of Mount Speke, Mount Stanley and Mount Baker. At 5,109 meters (16,762 feet), Mount Stanley is the third highest mountain in Africa and the highest point in the country, making it a particularly popular hiking destination.
Away from the Ruwenzori Range, there are plenty of other great hiking spots throughout the country. Other popular hiking destinations are Murchison Falls National Park, in the west of the country on the shores of Lake Albert, and Mount Elgon National Park, on the country’s eastern border with Kenya.
