Why should I choose Georgian Caucasus Mountains for my Hiking adventure?
Stepantsminda
This is a small town still known by its original name Kazbegi, very accessible from the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. In addition to its several hiking trails, it has an emblematic church that stands out in front of the snow-capped summit of Mount Kazbek (5033 m).
The towering houses ‘koshkebi’
In Tbilisi you can admire a sharp stone tower that stands on a hillside. Austere and with an almost cartoonish appearance, this is one of the "koshkebi" or medieval tower-houses that give a magical touch to the mountain villages of Georgia.
Security
In the 1990s, the Georgian Caucasus Mountains were unfortunately famous for the lack of security in the area. However, since 2004, with the new Sakashvili's government, the only "dangers" you can face are the shepherd dogs and the intense hospitality of the locals.
