Why should I choose Kazbegi for my Backcountry Skiing adventure?
Its surrounding valleys
If the sky is clear, a view of the Gergeti Church with Mount Kazbeg as backdrop is a valid reason to visit this location. However, its imposing smaller valleys nearby, such as the Truso Valley or the Chaucha Massif, will make your visit really worth it.
Proximity with Russia
There is a border crossing "Larsi" towards the Russian Federation, about 12 kilometers north. During winter (November - February), it is open every day, and in the summer (March - October) from 6 am to 10 pm. The cross-border road is in a mountain tunnel and it is not possible to cross it on foot.
** Good access**
Kazbegi is the most tourist area of Georgia, with a wide range of accommodation, cuisine and transportation. Thanks to the Georgian military road you can easily access one of the most impressive views of the Caucasus: a sunrise on Mount Kazbeg that is always magical.

A day before arrival Ilia appeared to be unavailable. He arranged national certified guide Tato Nadiradze for us. Ilia did not manage to arrange the trip well and much was not clear, also due to change of plans because of the weather after a few days. We were very lucky with Tato who arranged everything well and got the very best out of it for us. We used his Landcruiser to drive where ever we went. Tato is a bery good mountainguide with lots of experience, especially in the Gudauri and Kasbegi area. He is also a good and enthousiastic free-rider. Gudairi hut is a fine hotel.

Extremely professional! Only the best equipment, best helicopters, best avalanche gear, very experienced guides - everything perfect! though this winter was the toughest since ages (too much wind, not enough snow) they found good runs for us for every day!! I can highly recommend it!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
